We service both electric and acoustic guitars, as well as mandolins, dobros, banjos, even steel guitars.

You can drop your instrument off at our Pillow Street facility or ship it to us from wherever you are.

Setups for acoustic or electric guitars  $40
An SBC setup is like a 15-point oil-change/check-up for your car.  We look at EVERYTHING. Our setup includes cleaning, lubricating, testing electronics, and adjusting truss rods, action, and intonation, as well as replacing strings.  When you get your instrument back, it will play the best that it can play.

STANDARD ELECTRIC SETUP
Restring, Intonate, adjust truss rod, adjust action and pickup height.
+ Electric Guitar: $55 (not including strings, +$10 per string)
+ Electric Bass: $45 (not including strings, +$5 per string)

SOUTHBOUND ELECTRIC SETUP: $100

STANDARD ACOUSTIC SETUP: $35
(not including strings) Restring, Intonate, adjust truss rod, adjust action and pickup height.
+ add $15 for vintage trem
+ add $25 for Floyd, Wilkinson, Kahler, etc.
+ add $65 for Trans-Trem

SOUTHBOUND ACOUSTIC SETUP: $100
Perfection of intonation may not be possible within dimensions of current saddle slot. Modifying slot begins at $25.

NUT REPLACEMENT
SBC normally uses cow-bone nuts, which are the industry standard and which we make ourselves. We can provide nuts in any other material that you want, from brass to synthetics, and the replacement cost will depend on the price of that material.
+ Customer-supplied pre-slotted nut, install only: $25 (+$25 set-up)
+ Bone: $60
+ Graphite: $70
+ Brass: $125

FRETS
Fret dress: $125 (+$25 for stainless steel)
This means leveling the frets, which is the cure for divots that result from extended play-wear, and divots can ruin intonation. Our price does NOT include a setup.

Refret
Includes pulling the frets, leveling the fingerboard, and refretting. Our price does NOT include a setup.
*Fingerboards with "nibs" will lose nibs during the refret process.
+ Unbound, unfinished board, bolt-on: $250
+ Unbound, finished board, bolt-on: $275 (fretboard refin starts at $65)
+ Binding add $75
+ Set neck add $75
+ Stainless add $25
+ Vintage (pre '79) starts at +$75 subject to inspection

WIRING
Minimum price: $35

Pot/Jack replacement:
$35 plus part. $5 plus part for each additional pot/jack.
Mono or stereo Switchcraft jacks are free with job. (Push/pull pots, jacks with more than three lugs and other non-standard parts will be quoted upon inspection.)

Pickup replacement:
$35 first pickup, $15 for each additional (two conductor)
+add $5 for three or four conductor wiring—i.e. coil tap, phase reversal, etc.
+ WE ARE AN AUTHORIZED DIMARZIO DEALER.

Rout for new pickup: $50 (+$25 for dis/reassembly)

Switch replacement: $35 plus part, standard 3-way, 5-way, SPST and DPDT switches

Install acoustic pickups: $75+

Install acoustic preamp: starts at $50

Headstock reglue: $100+ (complete separation $150+, with additional for finish)

Tuner Installs:
+ Basic: $25 (now dowels; clean install; no modifications)
+ Changing styles vintage to modern: $75 (dowel screw holes; ream; install;-$25 less dowels)
+ Changing styles modern to vintage: $100 (dowel screw and post holes; ream; install)
+ Finish touch-ups—spot begins at $50
