THE STAFF
Luthier/owner Steven Fazio (here pictured with SBC mascot cat, Yngwie) began building guitars in 1998. In 2001, he attended Luthiers International 
building and repair school in Atlanta, GA. After graduation, he did freelance repair work while finishing a Bachelor's degree in music at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. In 2002 he took a job with Musical Instrument Reclamation Corporation (MIRC) where he repaired literally thousands of guitars over about two years and received a Gold Fender certification. When the company expanded into warranty repair, Steven was chosen to fill the position which included work on the full line of Yamaha and Garrison guitars. After roughly a year, Steven took over the finishing department at MIRC doing everything from spot repairs to full custom finishes. The stress of working on an average of twenty guitars a day, however, eventually led him to consider starting his own business; thus Southbound Custom was born in 2005.
